How to pdf to text online

  1. Choose an unencrypted PDF with selectable text.
  2. Choose the pages to read, or leave the range empty for all pages.
  3. Extract and download a plain text file, with markers for original page numbers.

Does this work on scanned PDFs?

This tool reads the existing PDF text layer. It does not perform OCR. Scanned pages without selectable text will need a separate OCR tool. Complex columns and tables may not preserve their reading order.

Do my files leave my device?

No. These tools run locally in your browser. Choose up to 50 MiB of input and 100 PDF pages. No account, upload, or AI request is required.

Your files are your business.

These tools process files on your device. The PDF tools do not upload documents. The separate template studio offers optional AI requests after consent. No ads are shown. Cookieless, self-hosted analytics counts page views only; it never sees your files. The server may log ordinary page requests. See the privacy notice. Files and results are held in browser memory until you change tools or close the page.

Compatibility and limits

Up to 20 files, 50 MiB total, and 100 PDF pages. Each operation is limited to two minutes. Modern browsers are required; mobile devices may need smaller files. Password-protected PDFs, interactive forms, and signed PDFs are not supported. Page tools rebuild documents; bookmarks, attachments, accessibility tags, and document-level metadata are not preserved. Review your result before using it. Text extraction reads existing text only; scans need OCR. This app does not edit text in place or redact content. Compression shows the measured before and after size and never offers a file larger than your original; its image mode removes selectable text. Watermarks are visible marks, not copy protection.
